9/2 Internet/ World Wide Web
The invention of the internet can not be entirely credited to one specific person or even a set group of people.
Instead, the development of the internet to what it is today came from the work of many visionaries and engineers over multiple decades.
Even the most initial form of what can be considered the internet was because of the work of various individuals.
Before the technology was even invented, visionaries such as Nikola Tesla developed concepts that would play into the invention of the internet.
A large contributor to the establishment of the internet is MIT’s J.C.R. Licklider.
The U.S. government was concerned about possible disruption to communication between officials during the Cold War. Licklider’s solution of a “ Intergalactic Network” of computers led to the first functioning internet prototype, known as the ARPAnet.
“Packet Switching” was used with this first format of the internet and multiple computers were able to share data.
The modern form of the internet came with the invention of a communication model called TCP/IP which allowed for various networks to share data. The development of TCP/IP can be primarily attributed to the work of Robert Kahn and Vinton Cerf.
Therefore, both are large players in the making of the modern internet. This development of TCP/IP, along with many other developments that have made the internet what it is today, has made the internet not only for government communication, but also for the data sharing and communication of basically everything that can be thought of. https://www.history.com/news/who-invented-the-internet
The World Wide Web is by far the most widely used information retrieval service of the internet.
Users of the Web have access to endless numbers of connected documents by the use of hypertext and hypermedia links.
This protocol is called the HyperText Transfer Protocol and it was developed by Tim Berners Lee and others at the CERN organization.
HTTP improved the communication between servers and clients on the web.
The World Wide Web has gone through many transformations from when it first was developed, especially with each new browser established.
The initial browser, Mosaic was released to the public in 1992.
Shortly after, in 1995, Microsoft produced Internet Explorer as the latest Web browser.
Since then, other browsers developed, such as Safari and Google Chrome have brought new updates to the way the Web is used today.
For example, Google Chrome allows for isolated tabs to be open so that they do not all crash when another does.
One of the biggest shifts in how the Web is used today is that more than half of browsing is done through smartphones.

Based on my research, it seems as though the World Wide Web and the Internet work side by side.
Specifically, it seems that the internet could exist without the World Wide Web, but the World Wide Web could not exist without the internet.
The Web allows people to access the information on the internet and connect it.
If the Web did not exist the internet would not be nearly as used or as accessible and popular as it is around the world today.
The first website on the World Wide Web browser was created by one of the founders of the Web, Tim Berners Lee and his colleagues at CERN. The address was http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html. It is no longer running.
