Illustrator Homework 1
Tutorial Video 1:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqjZR_v37K8
I actually enjoyed watching this tutorial and found it very helpful in terms of learning to use some of the basic tools of Illustrator. One of the tools that was demonstrated that I feel that I will be using often is the Art Board Tool. It is used to create any two page document, such as one with a front and back . You can create two pages of the same size or once it is duplicated you can change the copy to any size. As many copies as wanted can be created using this tool. To do so you click the Art Board Tool and then hold down alt command shift. This tool seems pretty easy to use and depending on the assignments given I would like to try using it to make some kind of graphic or document.
The eyedropper tool is another demonstrated in the video that I am certain will be coming in handy often during this unit. It is used in regard to coloring in object made. Specifically, it is used to match colors. It is explained as "absorbing" the color of an object and then transferring it to another. It leaves the color on the first object as well though. This feature will likely come in handy when it comes to making designs and graphics with coordinating colors.

A tool used in this video that I made sure to take note of is the star tool. I think that this tool will definitely be useful when making designs because not only is it used to make stars, but it also can be used to make triangles if you continually decrease the number of points of it by hitting the up or down arrow which is a feature of the tool.
The selection tool is another feature which seems very useful when trying to make different, organic shapes. It allows you to take the points of a triangle or star and morph them into other designs. Based on this video I think that both of these tools will be moderately easy to use. I find it interesting how this video seems to focus on educating people on creating shapes which is obviously an important part of working Illustrator.

The pencil tool is used right off the bat in this video and it seems possibly a bit trickier to maneuver than some of the other tools mentioned. Mostly because it seems to give the artist more freedom and movement when creating with it. It is mentioned that when using this tool, the less points made the better because it makes it easier to create smooth, flowing designs. Personally, I think that the pencil tool seems very helpful especially because it does not only create straight lines, but can also make curves.
The scissors tool is used in this video along with pencil tool. It seems very doable, but like it may take a bit more time to perfect. It is used to cut out certain areas of a creation. The direct selection tool also seems very useful as it is used to gently alter created shapes. This tool seems like it may be a little difficult to use, but I think it would be worth referring back to this video and learning because it could be used to create many different compositions with Illustrator. I find it interesting how this video is specifically attempting to teach to make a logo. But I find that some of the tools used could be utilized to create just about anything
